If you hire a good lawyer to do such a work, he would charge a hefty amount. Of course, you could hire a cheaper one, but the efficiency might not be the same.

Now, if you really think you deserve a patent, it is important to you go for a good lawyer even if he is a little expensive because if the Patent authorities do not agree that you have a patent worthy product, you lawyer could take them to the court and get you a patent. At least, you would not regret not spending enough on and for your product.

So, by hiring a good lawyer you may or may not guarantee yourself a patent but you would surely guarantee yourself the satisfaction of having tried hard enough.

Not just any lawyer who charges hefty sums of money is a good lawyer so far as patents are concerned. The lawyer has to know his job and must be well versed with the process of patenting. He should the working of the department of patents and must have a good record of filing patent applications.

Patent applications are an important part, as it takes a while for the department to grant patent. So, if you application has to be corrected or is rejected, it wastes time even if you get your product patented at the end of the time. After all time lost is never gained by any means whatsoever.

So, go for a good lawyer even if it lifts your cost of a patent a bit. It would certainly be a worthwhile investment. After all, a patented product brings lots of business.
